Troop 509 An adventure to remember.

On May 27, Troop 509 set out on
an Adventure to Remember.
We met up at Peace Lutheran
Church and loaded the Troop
Trailer for camping at the amazing
Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
After a 3 hour ride we arrived at
our destination and set up a wonderful
campsite.
Next we began
our hike to the
top of Elk
Mountain
where we
enjoyed
the
beautiful
scenery.
After the hike we returned to camp
where the Patrols cooked their
evening meals, built
a fire, and enjoyed a
great campfire program.
Sunday morning
after breakfast
we loaded up
the gear, and were entertained by
a wonderful interfaith worship
service.
On the way out we stopped at Prairie
Dog village where we saw many
Prairie Dogs playing and as the old
song says… Buffalo Roam!
Then a drive to the top of Scott
Mountain for more scenery, boulder
hoping, and photo ops topped
of the weekend before driving
back home.
This was an excellent Campout
for everyone especially our
Young Scouts who have never
been there.
